Have a K-2nd grader that could use a little practice with reading or a 3rd-5th grader who loves to read? We have two book clubs for you!
The Beginner Book Club is for Kindergarteners - 2nd graders who are learning how to read. They do not need to read independently to join this group. Ms. Judy will read an early reader with the kids and will also introduce a first chapter book each month. Kids will be able to check out the books if they wish at the end of the meeting. Kids will also play literacy-related games and complete literacy activities to support the books they are reading. It is a lot of fun and can be extra help for those who might need a little more encouragement with reading. Nothing needs to be read ahead of time! To register, click here.
The Beginner Book Club meets on the third Thursday of the month, from 6-7pm, on October 17, November 21, and December 19. Click on the book covers below to request items from the Ocean State Catalog if you wish. Kids do not have to read them ahead of time or bring the books with them.
October 17:
The Rooster Games Book Club is for 3rd - 5th graders who love to read and who might be interested in participating in the Rooster Games which is a trivia contest taking place in the spring in every public elementary school in North Providence. We also host a library Rooster Games for kids who attend private school or who are homeschooled. Kids will read books chosen from the Rhode Island Children's Book Award nominee list. Kids are expected to have read at least most of the book before they attend each meeting. Books for the next month are available for checkout at the Circulation Desk. Ms. Lynda runs this club and the discussions are a lot of fun! There are also games to be played at each meeting! To register, click here.
